This 1955 Citroen Traction Avant is the kind of classic that still carries proper old-world charm. Finished in black with a rich burgundy interior and wooden dashboard detail, it has the right presence, the right shape, and that unmistakable French pre-war design language that made these cars so special.
This example was owned for around 15 years and was always kept garaged.
The car presents well from a few steps back and has clearly had work done in the past. It was refurbished at some stage and still has a lovely period feel inside, with the front bench seat, thin-rim steering wheel, simple gauges, and elegant cabin layout all adding to its character.
Mechanically, the car is said to run and remains standard, fitted with its original engine and original manual gearbox. It is licensed up to date and registered. The last recorded roadworthy date was 26 September 2011.
As with many older classics, it is not perfect. There is rust starting to show at the bottom corners of the doors, so buyers should view it as a usable older classic with some cosmetic attention needed rather than a fresh restoration.
A charming and honest Traction Avant with loads of character. Not concours, not pretending to be, but a very appealing classic Citroen for someone who appreciates these cars and wants a solid base to enjoy, improve, and preserve.
