This 1989 Mercedes-Benz Gelandewagen (W460) 5-door is a powerful, highly upgraded take on the legendary off-roader. Owned for the last 8 years, this wagon has been transformed into a formidable custom build, combining classic rugged styling with modern V8 power. The vehicle is a running, driving machine with roughly 1,500 km covered on its current drivetrain configuration.

The powertrain is the standout feature of this build, utilizing a 5L Mercedes-Benz M113 V8 engineβ€”the same reliable powerplant found in factory G500 models up to 2006. The engine runs on a Spitronics management system and has a solid mechanical foundation, showing only a minor, typical oil sweat. Power is sent through a heavy-duty 722.6 automatic transmission, managed by a specialized off-gear control unit imported directly from Denmark to optimize the shifting profiles.

The vehicle has received several notable functional and aesthetic upgrades, including a new brake master cylinder, redone brake cylinders, and a refreshed front grille and light setup. The air-conditioning system is present but still requires final commissioning to be fully functional. The transmission fluid system shows a small, minor leak that is yet to be pinpointed, which may be localized to the cooling lines despite a newly fitted gasket.

The interior presents beautifully, featuring comfortable upgraded Mercedes-Benz front seats in excellent condition, paired with a freshly reupholstered rear bench seat. The vehicle is fully licensed and registered up to date, though the new V8 engine change still needs to be formally amended on the registration papers by the next owner. The classic mechanical differential locks have not yet been fully tested but are slated for inspection.
